• Splater Ridge: C.W. Splater had a busy week last week butchering & loading a barge of lumber, which he sold to the Tell City Home Company. News, Feb. 5, 1910.
• Briar Patch: The writer has been cooking for a saw mill crew near the cities for a few days ••• Sassafras. Tell City News, Apr. 2, 1910.
• Briar Patch: The timber cutters have about finished their work on the Fred Brunner tract. Over 15,000 staves, somewhere near 75,000 feet of lumber and some railroad ties were made. This is about the last forest of any consequence I know of near here. Sassafras. Tell City News, Dec. 10, 1910.
• Splater’s Ridge: Hess Bros. have moved their saw mill on George Jones’ Farm where they will saw a track of timber for M.r. Charles Splater.
• St. Mark’s: Lutgring Bros. are sawing & cutting timber this week in interest of the Chair Makers Union at Tell City. Tell City News, Jan.28 1911.
• Briar Patch: Thomas Huff, who got an eye badly hurt, while working in the Jones timber tract, will not lose the sight of that eye, as was feared. The eyeball was pierced however not far from the pupil. Sassafras. Tell City News, Feb. 11, 1911.
• St. Mark’s: Kraus & sons moved their saw mill and engine on Charles McCallister’s farm where they will saw a yard of logs for him. Tell city News, Feb. 18, 1911.
• Briar Patch: A barge from Troy towed by the Becker & Feldpausch gasoline boat, came up Sunday to Jones’ Mill and took out a barge of lumber. The water is said to be falling and may soon get below the boating stage. Sassafras. Tell City News, Mar. 4, 19110
• Briar Patch, C.W. Jones gave the Hess saw mill crew a pleasant visit Tuesday noon. The set is finished on his land and the next one will prob1ably be over on Deer Creek. Tell City News, Nov. 4, 1911.
