Addison Lincoln Dead

On Tuesday of last week Mr. Addisou Lincoln, father of Marvin Lincoln of this city and of Purd Lincoln of Birmingham, Ala., died shortly after arrivinig at Birmingham from this city. he had been suffering from stomach trouble and left Birmingham some time ago to visit his son here in the hope that the change would do him good. He left here on the Friday previous and had to be taken to the train on a cot. He was 62 years of age and leaves a widow, four sons and two daughters. He was reared near Bristow, this county and resided there many years. The family also lived in Hawesville and Tell City for a time.  Marvin, a son is local superintendent of the Cumberland Telephone Exchange in Cannelton.  Another son, Purd, formerly resided here and operated the electrtc light plant. Mr. Lincoln’s funeral took place in Birmingham  on Tuesday of last week. Marvin Lincoln tended the funeral.

Marvin Lincoln died at Lexington

Marvin Lincoln age 38 years, died’ a t his residence, 156 Rand Ave., Lexington, Ky., at 7: 45 o’clock Saturday morning, January 20, after an illness, of a  week of pneumonia.

He is survived by his wife Mrs. Mabel Lincoln; two children, Ruth Odell and William Lincoln his mother, Mrs. Celia Lincoln; two sisters, Mrs. Lawrence Hughs and Miss Ermine Lincoln, three brothers, Russell, Arthur and P.  J. Lincoln all of Birmingham, Ala.

Funeral services were at his residences at Lexington, owing to the fact that his wife and daughter were ill and unable to attend the funeral. His body was brought to Cannelton, via Southern Tuesday nigh and was taken to the residence of his father-in-law, Mr. George Hufnagel.

The funeral was held at two o’clock Wednesday afternoon.

Mrs, George Hufnagel remains by the bedside of her daughter, Mrs.  Lincoln. Marvin’s mother, Mrs. Celie Lincoln of Birmingham was indisposed at Lexington and unable to attend the Funeral.

Those who attended the funeral from a distance were: Mr. William Lincoln, of Lexington; Russell Lincoln of Birmingham; George Fruehwald, and Mrs. Charles Barney and daughter, Edith May of Evansville, Mrs. Robert Frede of Belleville, Ill.

Marvin Lincoln was born near Bristow this, county. He received his education at Hawesville, Ky. He began to work for the Cumberland Telephone Co. when 17 years of age and spent 21 years of faithful service in that company working his way up from messenger boy to wire chief. While in their service, he was stationed at Rockport and Cannelton, Ind., Hawesville, Cloverport, Owensboro and Lexington, Ky.

On May 8th, 1906 he was united in marriage to Mabel Hufnagel of Cannelton.Marvin was a model husband and father and his friends were numbered by his acquaintances.

Mrs. Mabel Lincoln and her daughter Ruth Odell have returned home from Bellville, Ill., accompanied by her sister Mrs. Robert Feder and Mr. Feder and daughter who will visit Mr and Mrs. George W. Hufnagel.

Mrs. C. Lincoln and daughter Mrs. Lawrence Huges and two children Clyde and Lawrence of Birmingham is visiting Mrs. Mabel Lincoln.

My Notes: Mabel L Hufnagel Lincoln married a unknown Walker after husband died. She died November 01, 1976 at Dearborn, Wayne county, Michigan and brought back and burred in Cliff Cemetery next to Marvin Lincoln.
