Descendants of Davis Lincoln
Generation No. 1
- DAVIS LINCOLN (HANANIAH9, THOMAS8, MORDECAI7, MORDECAI6, SAMUEL5, EDWARD F.4, RICHARD G.3, ROBERT H.2, ROBERT1) was born 1797 in Nelson Co., KY, and died Bef. 1826 in Natches, Adams MS. He married ABIGAIL CAMPBELL. She was born 1792 in Tennessee.
Children of DAVIS LINCOLN and ABIGAIL CAMPBELL are:
- i. HANANIAH11 LINCOLN, b. 1811, Kentucky; d. March 1880, Anderson Twp., Perry Co., IN.
- ii. NANCY ELIZABETH LINCOLN, b. 1809, TN.
Thanks for your efforts in the area of Lincoln research. Mary Mudd Lincoln (1775-1859) and Mordecai Lincoln Sr. (1771-1830) were my maternal 4th great aunt and uncle (they also being the paternal aunt and uncle of President Lincoln). Elizabeth Mudd Cassidy (sister of Mary Mudd Lincoln) was my 4th great grandmother, being buried in Tell City. My closest true blood relationship to President Lincoln himself, however, is on the Lee side of the family. My paternal grandmother was a Lee descendant; President Lincoln’s great grandmother was Nancy Anna Lee of Bedford County, Virginia (on Nancy Hanks’ side of the family).
One year at Christmas, my uncle tried to tell the family we were somehow related to President Lincoln. My mother though he was insane and laughed in his face. But obviously now it turns out my uncle was right. I’ve done the genealogical research and had the DNA test run.
I’m sure you’ve seen the speculation that Thomas Lincoln was not actually Abraham Lincoln’s father. But I do not believe that. I’m sure you’ve also probably seen somewhere along the line the split photo comparison of President Lincoln to one Ralph Lincoln (who would be my cousin on the Mudd side of the family). They can say whatever they want, but I am sure Thomas Lincoln was President Lincoln’s father. The resemblance between these two men in the aforesaid photo comparison is obvious.
