James of Lincoln County, KY

James of Lincoln County, KY

Greetings,

I am a descendant of the James Family in Lincoln Co.

The oldest relative found is Thomas James born between 1789 – 1795. His age changed with each census.

Thomas James was born in Virginia, but in the late 1700’s it might have been somewhere other than Virginia.

He married Elizabeth “Betsy” Kelly on 16 Jan 1818 in Lincoln Co. KY. Betsy was born about 1798 Va or KY. That too

changed with different census. I do know her mother Sally Kelly signed the marriage license. My sister copied the

information at the Lincoln Co. Court house. (before computers) I don’t know where they are buried, but the lived

on a farm that was in front of a cemetery where several other James’ are buried. The cemetery name was at the time

named Abrams cemetery, now is call Elihu Saylor cemetery. My pet peeve is changing the name of a cemetery just because

someone bought the land. Across the road from this farm is the Pine Grove Church of Christ and cemetery.

Many of my relatives are also buried at this cemetery. One brother and one sister of mine is buried there. plus a great-grandmother.

The information you sent on Mary Susan James is indeed the daughter of William B. James and Sophia Adams

Mary Susan James married Abner Daniel G. Anderson 02 Feb 1861 in Lincoln Co. KY.

Mary was born 02 Apr 1844 and died 06 Apr 1911 Crab Orchard, Lincoln Co. KY . She is buried at Ephesus Baptist Church Cemetery .

Abner Anderson b. 24 Apr 1840 VA – died 28 Nov 1932, he too is buried at the same cemetery

Mary and Abner had seven children. I have documentation on their children as well

Abner Daniel G. Anderson is the son of William Garland Anderson, born in VA and Catherine “Katie” Griffin born in New York.
