Laban Towers, 78 Passes Suddenly

Apoplexy Claims Life of Former Uniontown Postmaster, Ill 16 Hours

Laban towers, 78, died suddenly at his Oriole Home last Saturday after an illness of 16 hours. Death was due apoplexy.

Born near Leavenworth in Crawford County on August 7, 1861, the deceased was the son of Abraham and Angeline Long Towers. He was married January 28, 1886 at Uniontown to Claravina Cox. Five children were born to them. They lived in Uniontown from the time of their marriage until 1911. During most of this time the deceased served as postmaster at Uniontown. In 1911 they moved near Oriole and they have lived near and in Oriole since that time.

Surviving besides the wife are four sons, Eward Towers of Louisville; Homer, Major and Clinton Towers – all of Oriole; two brothers, William Towers of Tyna, Kansas and Reuben Towers of Prague Okla.; four sisters Mrs Mathilda McGee, Denver; Mrs. Mellssa Fiscus, Prague, Okla.; Mrs Alice Newton, Morgan, Texas; and Mrs Mary Vibber, Indianapolis; five grandchildren, Mrs Cledith Annson, Oriole; Edris, Loval, Gladys and Opal Towers of Louisville.

Mr Towers was a member of the Christian Church. He was an attentive husband, kind father and good neighbor.

Funeral services were held Sunday October 1, at the Oriole M. E. Church with Rev. Leonard Cummins in charge. Burial was in the Luxemberg cemetery. Pallbearers were Loval Towers, Oledith Anson, Leo Adkins, Cleoa Johnson, Scott Sprinkle and Ela Goodman.
