A couple of new found pictures in Tell City News Papers related to Jeffers, VanWinkles, Muelchi and related families.

ANNA MAURI MUELCHI d/o FREDRICK WILLIAM was born May 10, 1890 in Nebraska, and died June 18, 1990 in Evansville, Vanderburgh County, Indiana. She married EARL IRA JEFFERS, son of JAMES JEFFERS and VALONIA VANWINKLE. He was born January 1891 in Adyeville, Clark Township, Perry Co., Indiana, and died April 01, 1945 in Evansville, Vanderburgh County, Indiana.

Chester Sisley, 90

TELL CITY Chester Paul Sisley, 90, formerly of Dale, died at 3:10 p.m. Thursday, July 4, 2002, at Oakwood Health Campus in Tell City.

A native of Spencer Co., he was born Oct. 25, 1911, the son of the late Edgar and Grace (Jeffers) Sisley. He was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Jessie Wagnor on Feb. 5, 1977, and his second wife, Eloise Sisley on May 14, 2001.

He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ and a 50-year member of the Newtonville Odd Fellows Lodge. He enjoyed playing basketball, playing for the Trojans while going to high school there, and attended one year at Lockyear Business College, after that he left due to the Depression and there were no jobs available. He returned to Spencer Co., and started farming. Over the years he worked out of the Farm Service Agency office at Rockport and drove a school bus and was a part time carpenter, along with farming.

Surviving are a brother, Edgar R. of Tell City; a sister, Erma Jean Stein of Tell City; and six nieces and nephews.

Services were held at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 7, at Fuller Funeral Home and Crematory in Dale. The Rev. Chuck Herbert officiated. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery in Tell City.

Edgar R. Sisley

TELL CITY — Edgar R. Sisley, 88, of Tell City, died Thursday, August 4, 2005, at his home.

Edgar was born in Evanston, Ind., on April 25, 1917, to the late Edger and Grace (Jeffers) Sisley. He was a merchant who started Gamble’s Store in Tell City and retired and started his true love, farming.

He was a World War II veteran of the European Theater and a member of Tell City VFW for over sixty years.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Chester Sisley.

Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Inez; two sons, Edgar Sisley of Newburgh, Ind., and Michael J. Sisley of Boonville, Ind.; two daughters, Mary Kaye Erney of Spencer, Ind., and Karen McCormick of Chrisney, Ind.; a sister, Jean Stein of Tell City, Ind.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services are 2 p.m. Sunday, August 7, 2005, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, Ind., burial in Midway Cemetery in Midway, Ind.

Visitation from 2 to 7 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. till time of service on Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Defender of Wildlife or Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tell City, Ind.

Erma Jean Stein, 92, passed away Monday, April 21, 2014 at Golden Living Center in Tell City.

She was born in Spencer County, IN on September 10, 1921 to the late Edward and Grace (Jeffers) Sisley. She is preceded in death by her husband, Orrey, and brothers, Chester and Ed Sisley.

Jean was married on February 14, 1942, for 70 blessed years, to Orrey Louis Stein. He precedes her in death in May 2012. They made their home on a farm between Evanston and New Boston until moving to Tell City in 1990. She enjoyed artwork and painting, working mostly with oils and watercolors, being with her family and friends and playing cards. She always had a kind spirit and was known for her innocent giggles. She was truly a saint, lighting up our everyday lives.

Jean was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Surviving are her children, LaDonna Klass of Rockport, IN and Gary (Janna) Stein of Santa Rosa, CA; grandchildren, Jeremy Klass of Albuquerque, NM, Jeffry Stein of Santa Rosa, CA, Haley Stein of Denver, CO, and Nicholas Stein of Santa Rosa, CA; one great-grandson, Dean Klass of Albuquerque, NM.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM CST Saturday, April 26, 2014 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Evanston. Pastor Michael Mueller will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 1:00 PM until service time at the church.

Orrey Louis Stein was the 5th child born to John H. & Ida K. (Huebschmann) Stein on December 4th, 1921 in Evanston (Spencer County), Indiana. His siblings were Gertrude, Roland, Mabel, Dorothy, Verlee & Omer. Orrey married Erma Jean Sisley on February 14th, 1942. They were blessed with two beautiful children, LaDonna Jo & Gary Alan. 4 Grandchildren, Jeremy Ryan, Jeffrey Louis, Haley Rose & Nicholas Alan. And one Great Grandson, Dean Michael. Orrey was a loving, generous & kind hearted Christian man. He leaves a legacy of loving family & friends who will never forget him.
