Road Building

In 1831, the entire county was divided into forty-one road districts, and the “hands” of each were named. In September, 1731, three county commissioners took charge of county business.

For a bridge over Oil Creek $6.50 was appropriated out of the Counties three percent fund in 1836.

In September, 1837, Deer Creek Township was created. It comprised parts of Tobin and Troy Townships. $550 were expended on Deer Creek bridge.

In 1842 The county was redivided into seventy five road districts.

The Oil Creek bridge cost $8,975.25, built in 1866.
