Agnes M. Basinger, 85 , 2026 I St. Bedford, died at 3:40 p.m. at Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born in Perry County, she was the daughter of James and Mary Lee (Damin) Cassidy. She married James B. Basinger Nov. 27, 1934, and he died Dec. 11, 1992.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Bedford. Surviving are three sons: Louis E. Basinger and Frank E. Basinger both of Bedford, and Robert A. “John” Basinger of Heltonville; three daughters; Mary E. Lucas and Theresa M. Pruitt, both of Bedford, and Dora M. Caraway of Silverville; three sisters; Cecelia Howell and Josephine Mann, both of Derby, and Hazel Bryant of Tell City; three brothers; Bernard “Laz,” James and Patrick Cassidy, all of Derby; one daughter-in-law, Beverly Basinger Kennedy of Needmore; 12 grandchildren, including David Basinger of Mitchell, who was raised in the home, 12 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews including Doris Holtsclaw of Bedford, who also was raised in the home.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons; James G. Basinger and Bernard P. Basinger in infancy; two sisters Betty Schroeder and Frances Parsons, and one brother, Frank Cassidy.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Bedford, with Father Bernie Cox officiating. Burial will be in Beech Grove Cemetery, Bedford.
Friends may call from 2-9 p.m. today and 9am-1 p.m. Wednesday at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home, where the rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today.
