1.  LEVIN DEBRY WALLS   was born October 19, 1795 in Breckenridge County Kentucky, and died April 30, 1829 in Breckenridge County Kentucky.  He married MARGARET SANDERS January 01, 1814 in Warrick County Indiana.  She was born August 20, 1797 in Breckinridge Co KY, and died Unknown.

Manliff Walls left Virginia . . . and settled in Breckenridge County Kentucky. Manliff Walls had trouble with the Sanders family and the fates decreed that Levin Debry and Peggy Sanders must fall in love. It can be easily understood that with trouble between these two families, true love did not run smooth, so the story is, that Levin Debry and Peggy eloped on horseback with a posse of the Sanders family in hot pursuit. The lovers made for the Ohio River and Indiana; finding the river at a low stage, they swam their horses across. The pursuers gave up at the river and turned back.  The lovers made their way up into Warrick County, Indiana, and were married by Squire Tobin. This was the year 1814.

The above account was related by the Rev. Simon Porter Walls to his descendants.

After the death of Levin Walls, his widow and the eight children, all young , decided to leave Kentucky for Indiana where the grandparents, Manlove and Celia Walls were living. They brought one old ox with them and the children took turns riding the beast. They arrived in Indiana in 1830. The 1830 census returns for Crawford County, Indiana, show Margaret listed as head of household with seven children. It is said that Lewis B. Walls was raised by his grandparents.
